Fishery conditions
3rd May to 10th July
there will be four beats available - including the Castle Beat but only three beats will be available on any one day.
In the event of low water the spare beat will be available with the Lower Beat but subject to the approval of Bill Mason.
From 12th July four beats will be available excluding the Castle Beat as the Upper Beat will now be included.
If there are no members of the family or guests in the Castle then the Castle Beat will be available with the LowerBeat.
Beat rota:
At any one time there will only be three beats available for paying guests. Each beat will be rotated daily and there will be no variation to this unless there are exceptional circumstances and in which case Bill Mason will advise the tenants accordingly.
Rules:
Please ensure that these rules are conveyed to all rods as we will not let fishings to those who do not comply.
1. A catch limit of 3 salmon (including grilse) killed per rod per week. Where 2 rods or 4 rods are taken then 6 or 12 salmon between the rods will be the limit.
2. In September and October all gravid or very coloured fish are to be returned to the water.
3. Natural prawns and shrimps (whether fresh or preserved, dyed or natural colour) and any part thereof are prohibited.
4. All fish caught, including those returned, must be entered on the return form before you leave.
Recommendation:
Up to 31st May no worm fishing please, thereafter fly worm or spinning but preferably fly only during August, September and October.
In line with other responsible fisheries we ask that you return as many undamaged fish as possible outwith the September and October period.
Trout rods:
Up to 26th June four trout rods will be allowed, thereafter three rods. We will try to keep all trout rods on the upper beat. Fly only. Day permits obtained from the Post Office (Bridge of Balgie) at £7.50 per rod per day but £1.50 will be returned if catch is reported at end of day - telephone 01887 866221

Tay conditions
1. To help prevent an outbreak of Gyrodactylus Salaris which has had catastrophic effects on some foreign rivers, all rods fishing must complete a Gyrodactylus declaration on arrival at the fishery. This states that either you have not used your fishing tackle abroad in the last three months, or you have done so and had it properly sterilised, or you have done so and NOT had it sterilised. In the latter case, you must agree to sterilisation taking place before you start fishing, and accept that there may be some delay in getting this organised. 2. The season is from 15th January to 15 October inclusive on the Tay and all tributaries, except the Earn which is 1st February to 31st October.
3. There is no fishing allowed on Sundays.
4. It is illegal to intentionally foulhook fish
5. No prawns or shrimps can be used at any time.
6. The Tay District Salmon Fisheries Board's conservation recommendations should be followed:
From 15 January to 31 May - release the first spring salmon caught each season and at least every second fish thereafter.
From 1st June to 15th October - anglers should aim to release at least 50% of what they catch over this period. In particular anglers are requested to release all coloured and gravid fish. Worms should not be used as bait anywhere before 1st June or in upper tributaries in September and October where coloured spring salmon are waiting to spawn.
