Description
The Finegand Estate is situated 17 miles north of Blairgowrie in Glenshee just south of the Spittal. Both Perth and Dundee are just 40 minutes by car. Accommodation in the form of self-catering holiday cottages located on the estate can be arranged for guests.
Set amongst some of the most stunning scenery Finegand is a fishery with a fast improving reputation for offering tenants productive fishing (5 year average of 115 fish) - two regular fishermen recently caught their 100th fish on the estate. The two beats have between them over 17 named pools all of which are easily fished, while the few pools requiring wading should not present to many problems.
The cream of Finegand's fishing has to be with the fly and splendid sport can be had on light tackle from when the fish arrive (early June), through to the end of the season amongst the large number of grilse that the river holds (a sight in itself). The fishing continues through to the end of the season when some outstanding sport is to be had with the beat's largest fish often caught in the final few weeks.
Spinning is allowed throughout the season and the worm is allowed up until the 15th September. Anglers are required to use their discretion at all times and bag limits are in place. So as not to hinder older or infirmed guests Finegand may, at their sole discretion, allow worm fishing after the 15th September.
Vehicular access to most of the pools on Finegand is good.
Finegand has plenty to offer the non-fishing guest including golf at the highest 9 hole golf course in Scotland (4 miles away on a neighbouring estate), hill walking with several Munros close by and an outstanding array of birds and wildlife on the estate itself.
Finegand also has a small trout loch, which is available on request to salmon fishers and cottage guests. Rough shooting and deer stalking can also be arranged either on Finegand or locally.
