RIVER TAY AND TRIBUTARIES
As of Sunday evening the Tay remains low, as it has done for several weeks. The forecast indicates there may be some rain on Monday but otherwise the forecast for the next few days is dry. Therefore there does not seem much prospect of a decent rise.
Water levels are now such that fishing in the smaller tributaries is getting more difficult. Levels in the larger tributaries and even the Tay iself are getting a bit lower than ideal but, as the Tay is a big river, conditions are still reasonable on many beats, although there is now a widespread consensus that a spate would be welcome.
There has recently been quite a good run of grilse, but these are now quite well spread but there is a good head in the River Isla. The fresh run fish which are still coming in do not seem to be running as fast and fish are starting to settle in the very lower reaches of the Tay awaiting rain.
However, despite the fact that many of the other Scottish rivers will be struggling in these drought conditions, there is still a reasonable prospect of catching fish anywhere on the middle or lower Tay this week or on the Coupar Grange beat on the Isla.
As to methods, on many beats the Tay is still in good ply for flyfishing. The fly should account for perhaps most fish this week. However, on some of the slower beats bait fishing is being resorted to.
LOCH TAY
With the Tay now low, Loch Tay has been very quiet recently, but of course there is always that chance...
RIVER EARN
The Earn is now needing a spate to get things moving again, but some grilse have been sneaking into the lower river and a few have been caught recently.

There is at present a considerable amount of fishing available on the Tay system at reasonable prices.
