Last week
Last week was a week of dull misty damp weather and a cool southeasterly breeze with the exception of Saturday when it brightened up. The river remained at a moderate level all week affected very slightly by some light rain at the beginning of the week. Conditions were generally not ideal but far from poor.
The total catch for the week was quite encouraging, but altough there were no really astounding catches made, fish were well spread throughout the system and most had a share of some sort.
At the time of reporting 63 fish have been reported on the website but there were others which were not reported.
We know that the first Lyon fish of the season was landed on the Glenlyon beat on Monday, actually above the falls. At least 4 were landed on the Burnbane beat (Tay) and 2 were caught on one day on Glendelvine (Tay). Four fish were apparently caught on the Tom-Dachoille beat on the Tummel, we have heard of 4 from Loch Tay (quite a few others were seen on Friday and Saturday) and 7 from the Killin AC water on the Dochart. on the Earn, two springers were landed on Thursday on the Kinkell beat and one on Lochlane. There will have been others, so the true total for the week is likely to have been around 100.

Season review
January
The 2005 season opened on the 15th of January with very high water, a few days earlier there had been the biggest flood since the record spate in January 1993.Since the season opened on the 15th of January. During January the water fell back but it was always much higher than ideal. A total of 19 fish were reported on the website for the month, but others were caught on beats which do not report directly. The most encouraging area was Loch Tay which had its best start for years, with around 11 landed during the first week, but only 1 in the second. On the river a few fish were caught during the month, the Stanley area seeing the best fishing, but with odd fish scattered throughout the system right to Kenmore.
February
Water levels continued to fall through February though there was a rise in mid month, but by the end it had reached the lowest level of the year, but still a moderate level. The winter has generally been very mild but at the end of the month it did turn more wintry with frosty nights and some snow perhaps making for more "traditional" Tay spring fishing. With lower water conditions improved for the Tay and throughout the month a smattering of fish were landed, mainly from Stanley up to Dunkeld. The spate in mid month allowed a small run through and a few were landed on Loch Tay, but generally it has been quiet. Near the end of the month the first fish were landed on the Isla and the Tummel. The on the last day things really picked up when a new run came in and 17 that we know of were landed on the day. That is the best February day on the Tay there has been for some years. Encouragingly there were a few 3SW fish as well as 2SW and the condition of the fish generally appears good. At least one spring fish was landed on the Earn plus a number of sea trout, which have also featured on the Isla and lower Ericht. In total 62 fish were reported on the website for the month, but a more accurate estimate would put the true total at nearer 100.
