Description
Newtyle consists of two six-rod beats, Upper and Lower. With the exception of the north bank of the Upper beat's Ferry Pool all 1.75 miles are double bank fishing.
Starting from the top of the Upper Beat there is The Ferry Pool, St Mary's Stream, The Deans Burn, The Fiddlers, The Top Pool, The Cotter, The Boil, The Steps, The Plain Tree, The Hole in the Meadow, Lairds Bank, The Blue Pipe andThe Island Pool (which we share with Murthly 2 Beat).
Lower Newtyle adjoins the Murthly Beat 2 and Upper Newtyle goes up to the march with the Dunkeld Angling Club at the Inchewan burn just below Dunkeld Bridge.
The beats offer quality high and low water fishing and both fly and spinning is permitted.
The fishings specialise on daily and weekly lets and can usually accommodate short notice bookings. The beat offers one of the most picturesque and tranquil settings on the Tay. The blue fishing hut is over 100 years old and has a stone fireplace for the cooler months!
There are 3 boats and 3 ghillies (1 full time, 2 part time). John Monteith the Head Ghillie has fished the beat since 1970 and has a tremendous understanding of the water.
Casting tuition is available if required through the world class Mr Peter Anderson (notice required and at additional cost).
